About Hudu Radar

Introduction

Hudu Radar is an external application that scans available networks to gather information about networks and connected devices. It’s an optional product for Hudu users, designed to offer insights into network environments with ease.

Version 2.39.4 required to enable Radar.

Note: If Hudu is configured without SSL (a No-SSL setup) while using Hudu Radar, you may encounter an “invalid code” error. Radar requires secure HTTPS communication for proper token validation. Enabling SSL on the Hudu instance resolves this issue.

The Hudu Radar Service is a silent background service that performs the same actions as Hudu Radar without the application interface needing to be open. If desired, scans can always be run from the Hudu Radar Service, meaning no configuration is needed within the Hudu Radar app.

The Hudu Radar Agent is an optional silent background service that runs on each device in your network. It collects device data and routes it to the central Hudu Radar Application, which then forwards it to Hudu. Agents do not send information directly to Hudu, ensuring secure and centralized communication. The agent can be used if Hudu Radar is not able to collect enough information about devices over the network.

Hudu Radar Network Maps

If a company uses Hudu Radar, a new Map section will appear in that company’s IPAM tab menu. This section displays a network map that is automatically created and updated by Hudu Radar. At this time, the map cannot be edited manually.

Note:

  • The Map section is only available for companies using Hudu Radar.

  • Companies that do not use Hudu Radar will not see the Map section in IPAM.

  • If a company stops using Hudu Radar, the map will be automatically removed.

When viewing the map:

  • Clicking a network opens the network preview.

  • If an asset exists for an item on the map, clicking that item will open the asset preview.

  • Items that are discovered but not synced to Hudu will still show in the map with a tooltip that the item has not been synced to Hudu.
