Radar Multi-Collector Overview (Beta access required)

Hudu Radar supports multiple collectors per company. Each collector represents a separate site with its own network adapters and scan data, while remaining under the same company in Hudu.

This article covers what changed, when you need the migration wizard, and how to complete it safely.

What’s new

Previously, Radar effectively assumed one active scanner setup per company. Multi-collector support lets you:

  • Run one Radar service (collector) per physical site
  • Keep adapters and scan data organized by location
  • Document multiple non-routable or isolated networks under a single company

Key terms

  • Collector — A Radar service installation for one site under a company.
  • Adapter — A network interface Radar uses to scan (shown with name, CIDR, and online/offline status).
  • Migration wizard — A guided flow that appears when existing multi-adapter setups need to be organized into collectors.

Do I need the wizard?

Use the wizard when

  • You previously ran Radar for multiple sites under one company, and
  • Those adapters still need to be grouped into the correct collectors

The wizard appears automatically on that company’s Radar page when migration is still outstanding and the company has more than one network adapter.

You can skip the wizard when

On the first screen, choose one of these:

  • I do not need to move existing adapters in this company — Dismiss for this company only.
  • I do not need to move existing adapters in any company — Dismiss for your whole account.

If a company has only one adapter, you won't see the reorganization wizard for that company.

Fresh setups vs migration

SituationWhat to do
New site / new Radar installCreate or install a collector for that site and add adapters as part of normal setup
Existing adapters mixed across sites under one companyUse the migration wizard to name collectors and assign adapters
Single-site company with one adapterNo reorganization needed

Prerequisites

Before creating collectors in the wizard:

  1. Know which adapters belong to which site.
  2. Plan to run Radar service 2.1.0 or later on every collector. Older services stop scanning and syncing until updated.
  3. Understand that adapter assignments cannot be changed after you save.

Wizard walkthrough

Open company → Radar. In Introducing Multi-Collector Support, select:

I have existing adapters I need to move in this company

1. Name collectors

  • Rename the existing collector if needed.
  • Name additional collectors for each site.
  • Use Add Another for more than two.
  • Names must be unique within the company; at least two collectors are required.

Select Next.

2. Assign adapters

Assign every adapter to a collector. Every collector must have at least one adapter.

Select Next.

3. Review and create

Confirm the grouping, read the permanence and version warnings, then select Create Collectors.

On success, select Close.

After collectors are created

  • Adapters (and related networks) are associated with the collectors you chose.
  • Update any Radar services still below 2.1.0 so each site continues to scan and sync.
  • Going forward, treat each collector as its own site under that company.

FAQ

Can I change adapter assignments later?
No. Assignments made in this wizard cannot be edited after they are saved. Double-check the review step.

Why can’t I continue on the assignment step?
Every collector must have at least one adapter. Reassign adapters so none of your named collectors are empty.

Why was my collector name rejected?
Names are required and must be unique within the company (case-insensitive).

An adapter shows as offline. Can I still assign it?
Yes. Offline adapters can be assigned like any other adapter.

I selected the wrong skip option. What now?
Contact Hudu support if the wizard no longer appears and you still need to reorganize adapters.

I’m not sure whether I need this.
Use I'm not sure on the first screen to open Hudu support help, or contact support with your company name and how many sites you scan today.
