Hudu Radar Adapters

Introduction

Hudu Radar can be configured to scan networks from physical or virtual network adapters present on the collector device. Hudu Radar can be configured with multiple network adapters. However, at least one network adapter must be selected to perform any network scans. Hudu Radar will auto-detect the primary/default adapter, and by default automatically scans the network that adapter is attached to. This adapter cannot be removed.

The selection of network adapters can be modified from Hudu Radar Settings >> Adapters. You can access the Hudu Radar Settings by navigating to the company using Hudu Radar, clicking into the Hudu Radar section and selecting the Settings tab. Networks from added adapters will be scanned automatically.

Scanning additional subnets

An additional subnet can be added to Radar's scans without configuring an adapter for it. Which method to use depends on whether Radar has already discovered the network:

Network already discovered by Radar

If the network already shows up in Radar's networks list, add it to scans from Hudu Radar Settings >> Networks >> Add to Scans. The only requirement is that the device running Radar can route to that subnet.

Network routable but not yet discovered

If the network is routable but Radar hasn't discovered it — for example, a subnet at a remote site reached over a site-to-site VPN — connect it manually: go to Hudu Core >> IPAM >> Network details, open the three-dot menu for that network, and select Connect to Radar. As above, this only requires routing.

Multiple adapters

If Radar needs Layer 2 access to a subnet rather than routing to it, that subnet needs its own adapter selected in Hudu Radar Settings >> Adapters. There are two ways to get there:

  • Separate physical or virtual adapters — a scanning device with multiple network adapters, each connected to a different subnet or network segment. Hudu Radar should have all relevant adapters selected to ensure scanning covers all connected networks.
  • Trunk port with VLAN-tagged adapters — for VLAN-separated subnets where routing isn't available, Radar can be installed on a device connected to a switch port configured as a trunk that carries the required VLANs, with one adapter configured per subnet using the corresponding VLAN ID tagging. Each of these adapters also needs to be selected in Hudu Radar Settings >> Adapters.
