Hudu Assist (Browser Extension)

Hudu Assist is a browser extension that puts your team’s credentials, documentation, and knowledge at your fingertips.

Right from your browser, Assist helps you securely access and manage passwords, search your knowledge base, capture documentation, and streamline everyday tasks—without switching between tools.

With Hudu Assist, you can:

  • Retrieve, copy, or generate credentials (including one-time passwords)
  • Autofill and submit login or signup forms automatically
  • Search for and access passwords from your Vault
  • Create and save new credentials as you work

   Please Note: In order to use browser extension v3.0.0, your Hudu environment must be on version 2.41.0.

Getting Started

The first step to using the Hudu extension is the installation, you can install the extension from the following links:

Firefox browser

Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Vivaldi, Brave, Microsoft Edge)

    If installing on other browsers, you will need to turn on the option to install from other stores otherwise, you will not see an install button.

    If utilizing the Firefox extension, you will need to first accept the permissions.

How to Log In to Hudu Assist

The first time you open the extension, you’ll see a splash screen prompting you to enter your Hudu host.

Enter your Hudu instance domain (for example, your company’s Hudu URL), or simply paste any URL from your Hudu dashboard. Once entered, you’ll be prompted to log in.

Asset Helper

Asset Helper brings Hudu directly into the tools your team is already using.

When working inside supported PSA or RMM platforms—such as HaloPSASyncro MSPNinjaOneConnectWise Manage, and Autotask PSA. Asset Helper detects the asset you’re viewing and surfaces relevant information, including:

  • Passwords
  • Knowledge base articles
  • Related assets and documentation

To see this information, you must be viewing an asset that also exists in your Hudu instance.

Opening Hudu Asset Helper

You can access Asset Helper in two ways:

  • Click the lightbulb icon in the extension’s right-side panel
  • Use the Hudu Assist shortcut in the bottom-right corner of your screen

If the shortcut isn’t visible, enable it by going to:
Hudu Assist → Settings → Toggle “Hudu Assist Shortcut” on

Settings

Use the Hudu Assist settings to enable or customize features within the extension.

General

Dark mode

Enable dark mode to switch both the extension and Asset Helper to a darker interface.

Hudu Assist shortcut

Toggle this on to display the Hudu Assist icon in the lower-right corner of your screen.

This shortcut allows you to quickly open Hudu Assist, access items in your Hudu environment, and view a preview of Asset Helper information when actively working within a supported PSA or RMM tool.

If you prefer not to display this icon, simply toggle this setting off.

Passwords

Automatic sign in

Enable this option to streamline the signup and login process on websites. When triggered, the extension will automatically locate and click the appropriate signup or login button after autofill—resulting in fewer manual clicks.

Save passwords

When enabled, Hudu will prompt you to save new login credentials to My Vault or a specific company as they are entered.

Credential Helper

Credential Helper is disabled by default on new installations of the browser extension. Any changes to this setting will persist through future updates.

Screen Capture

In the Settings screen, you can customize the Screen Capture image border and indicator theme to match your preferences.

Shortcuts

Open the popup using a shortcut. There is no need to move your cursor to the Hudu icon and click it.

Use the following shortcuts to open the popup instantly:

  • For Mac users: Cmd + Shift + I
  • For Windows users: Ctrl + Shift + I

In Chrome, you can also customize this shortcut by navigating to: chrome://extensions/shortcuts
