The Hudu admin area is accessible ONLY to admins and super admin users within your organization.
Import information from existing spreadsheets directly into Hudu to get a jump start on your documentation!
As an admin, you can begin importing data by navigating to the Hudu admin area → Import.
Notice before importing!
Importing into Hudu is simple and quick, but be careful and cautious. Files must:
- End in .csv.
- Be less than 1 GB in total file size.
-
Follow template files EXACTLY.
- Do not change or delete the template headings.
- Have dates that are in YYYY-MM-DD.
- You can do this easily in Excel by using the 'Format Cell' tool.
- Make sure to save as CSV UTF-8 (Comma-delimited) (*.csv) if opening in Microsoft Excel to prevent accented characters from being imported improperly.
- Imports do not update existing records; duplicates will be created.

Importing Assets
Prefer a video walkthrough of how to import assets? Here is our quick guide video.
To generate your own import templates for your data, you'll first need to create asset layouts. Each asset layout you create will generate a new import template based on the layout's name and selected fields. The fields included in the asset layout will become the column headers in your custom import template.
Company_name and name fields will be present for all created import templates.
Visit our Assets Layouts article for additional information!
Rolling Back an Import
You can roll back imports, but be VERY careful, as this will remove any pre-existing records.
For example, if you roll back a company's import, and there were companies that were previously matched on the name; these companies will be deleted, even if they existed before the import.
There is no way to undo a rollback or any deletions that occur from it. Proceed with caution, and if you have questions, please reach out for help!
FAQ
Answer: Folder_id is the unique identifier provided to each individual password folder. If you'd like imported passwords to be placed into a password folder upon being brought in, you'll need to identify which folder by its' Folder ID. Folder_id will act in place of folder name; do not provide folder name during password import.
Notes: To obtain the folder_id for a particular password folder; navigate to your Hudu admin area → password folders tab. The left ID column will provide the value for this import field.
Video Instructions:
Answer: List Select fields accept the name of the list option, its list ID, or both. The simplest option is to enter the option name exactly as it appears in the list.
Accepted formats:
- Option name:
Lenovo - Name only:
{"name":"Lenovo"} - ID only:
{"id":3} - ID and name:
{"id":3,"name":"Lenovo"} - Any of the above as a list, for fields that allow multiple options:
[{"id":3,"name":"Lenovo"},{"name":"Dell"}]
Notes:
- Option names must match the list option exactly.
- If a cell includes both an ID and a name, the name is used.
- Multiple options can only be imported into List Select fields that allow multiple selections.
- If a value doesn't match any option in the list, the field is left blank for that asset. If the field is required, that row will not be imported.
- Exported asset CSVs use the ID and name format, so you can export assets from Hudu and re-import the file without changing the list columns.
When using the ID or JSON formats, use straight quotes (") rather than curly quotes (“ ”). Curly quotes are often added when copying from a word processor, and they make the value unreadable, so the field will be left blank.
