Pax 8

The Pax8 integration with Hudu allows you to bring your clients' cloud subscriptions directly into Hudu, helping you track license totals, renewal dates, and subscription status alongside the rest of your documentation.

Before setting up your Pax8 integration, read our Understanding Integrations article to learn basic concepts and useful tips.

What You'll Need

  • Access to create Pax8 API credentials.
  • Admin or super-admin user role within Hudu.

At any time, you can come back to your Hudu admin area >> Integrations >> Pax8 to make changes to the integration.

Integration Features

Hudu's integration with Pax8 allows you to sync:

  • Companies into Hudu
    • Create client spaces in Hudu directly from Pax8 companies, or merge them into existing client spaces.
  • Subscriptions into Hudu
    • Import Pax8 subscriptions as Agreements within client spaces in Hudu, including the product name, seat quantity, billing term, status, and start and end dates. This makes it easy to track license totals and renewal dates, such as NCE expirations.

The Pax8 integration does not create integration cards or data fields on company pages. Subscription data is available in each company's Agreements section.

What Hudu needs from Pax8

  • Client ID
  • Client Secret

Creating API Credentials in Pax8

  • Sign in to Pax8 as a user with permission to manage API credentials.
  • Navigate to the API credentials area of your Pax8 partner account.
  • Create a new set of API credentials for Hudu.
  • Copy the Client ID and Client Secret and store them securely.
Pax8 API credentials grant full access to ordering functionality in your Pax8 account. Store them securely and do not share them in plain text.

Visit the Pax8 Developer Platform for additional information on creating and managing Pax8 API credentials.

Enabling the Pax8 Integration

  • Integrations can be enabled at any time, during Hudu environment testing or in production.
  • Once enabled, integrations can be merged into existing documentation based on predefined rules.
  • This allows you to configure the integration upfront or connect it later as needed.
  • To enable the Pax8 integration:
    • Navigate to Hudu admin >> Integrations.
    • Select Pax8 from the list.

Setting up the Integration in Hudu

Step 1. Connect to Pax8

  • Enter the Client ID.
  • Enter the Client Secret.
  • Select any additional options:
    • Do not update basic company details — Prevents company details from being changed in Hudu if they are changed in Pax8.
    • Inactive companies — Skips companies that are marked inactive in Pax8.
    • Subscriptions — Skips importing Pax8 subscriptions as Agreements.
  • Save the settings.

Step 2. Test connection and run an initial sync

  • On the integration overview page, click Test Connection.
Make sure to test the integration for a successful connection before continuing. Do not continue until you see a connection successful message.
  • If successful, start an initial sync to bring in Pax8 companies.

Step 3. Match Pax8 Companies

  • Before companies from Pax8 can be brought into Hudu, they must be matched to:
    • Existing companies in Hudu, or
    • New companies you create in Hudu
  • Hudu recommends matching one company first for testing to ensure data imports correctly.
  • When the integration runs successfully for the first time:
    • Companies from Pax8 are imported.
    • They appear in the Matched Companies List for the integration.
  • Navigate to Hudu admin >> Integrations >> Pax8.
  • Open the integration and click Match Companies.
  • Review the list of companies and choose one of the following options:
    • Bulk create and/or match all companies
    • Match a company to an existing Hudu company
    • Create a new matched company in Hudu from a Pax8 company
    • Leave a company unmatched (it and its data will not be imported)
  • After matching companies, re-run the integration import to populate data for the matched or newly created companies.

Step 4. Review subscriptions in Hudu

  • Open a matched company in Hudu and locate the Agreements section.
  • Each Pax8 subscription appears as an agreement showing:
    • Product name, with the seat quantity in parentheses when available
    • Billing term and subscription status
    • Start and end dates
  • The Agreements section shows active agreements by default. Switch to the All agreements view to see cancelled or expired subscriptions.

FAQ

Getting an error when testing the connection?

Answer: A failed connection test usually means the Client ID or Client Secret is incorrect. Confirm both values were copied in full with no extra spaces and that the credentials are still active in Pax8. Save and retry Test Connection in Hudu. If the issue continues, generate a new set of credentials in Pax8.

Does Hudu make changes to my Pax8 account?

Answer: No. The integration reads data from Pax8 and does not create, edit, or delete anything in your Pax8 account.

Why don't I see cancelled subscriptions on a company's page?

Answer: The Agreements section shows active agreements by default. Switch to the All agreements view to see cancelled and expired subscriptions.

Why aren't subscriptions showing up for a company?

Answer: Subscriptions only sync for Pax8 companies that are matched to a Hudu company. Confirm the company is matched, that the Subscriptions option is not set to skip, and then re-run the integration import.

How often do integrations sync?

Answer: Native integrations automatically re-sync (update) every 3 hours. You can also use the global re-sync feature to refresh native integration syncs at any point.

Why is my integration taking a long time to finish?

Answer: If the Pax8 sync has been loading for a significant amount of time, follow the steps below:

  • Test the connection to ensure Hudu and Pax8 are communicating correctly.
  • Verify your Pax8 credentials.
  • Refresh the page (while a sync is actively running).
  • Stop the sync and restart the sync.

Notes: Active integrations sync automatically every 3 hours; manual re-syncs can be performed either within an integration's settings page or by clicking the re-sync button in the top right.
