The Hudu and Snipe-IT integration automatically syncs hardware asset data from Snipe-IT into Hudu, helping keep asset inventories and infrastructure documentation accurate, organized, and up to date.
Visit Understanding Integrations for additional information on integration concepts and useful tips before getting started.
What You'll Need
- Snipe-IT instance URL.
- A Snipe-IT API token, generated by a user with API access.
- Admin or Super-Admin user role within Hudu.
At any time, you can come back to your Hudu admin area >> Integrations >> Snipe-IT to make changes to the integration.
Integration Features
Hudu's integration with Snipe-IT allows you to sync over:
Pull hardware asset information from Snipe-IT into an asset layout.
What Hudu Needs From Snipe-IT
- Snipe-IT instance URL.
- Snipe-IT API token.
Enabling the Snipe-IT Integration
- Integrations can be enabled at any time, during Hudu environment testing or in production.
- Once enabled, integrations can be merged into existing documentation based on predefined rules.
- This allows you to configure the integration upfront or connect it later as needed.
- To enable the Snipe-IT integration:
- Navigate to the Hudu admin area (Admin → Integrations).
- Select Snipe-IT from the list.
Setting up the Integration in Hudu
Step 1. Connect to Snipe-IT
- Enter your Snipe-IT instance URL.
- Enter your Snipe-IT API token.
Step 2. Test Connection and Run an Initial Sync
- On the integration overview page, click Test Connection.
- If successful, start an initial sync to bring in Snipe-IT companies.
Step 3. Match Snipe-IT Companies
- Before assets from Snipe-IT can be brought into Hudu, their companies must be matched to:
- Existing companies in Hudu, or
- New companies you create in Hudu
- Hudu recommends matching one company first for testing to ensure data imports correctly.
- When the integration runs successfully for the first time, companies from Snipe-IT appear in the Matched Companies List for the integration.
- Navigate to Hudu Admin → Integrations → Snipe-IT.
- Open the integration and click Match Companies.
- Review the list of companies and choose one of the following options:
- Bulk create and/or match all companies.
- Match a company to an existing Hudu company.
- Create a new matched company in Hudu from a Snipe-IT company.
- Leave a company unmatched (it and its data will not be imported).
- After matching companies, re-run the integration import to populate data for the matched or newly created companies.
Step 4. Choose an Asset Layout for Hardware Assets
- Select a default asset layout for hardware assets.
- This will store information that is pulled in but not explicitly mapped to another asset layout.
- Asset layouts must be active to be selected, and can be created ahead of time in the Hudu admin area (Admin → Asset Layouts) or directly from this section if needed.
Step 5. Run a Final Sync
Once you match companies and choose where to sync hardware assets, run a final sync. This sync will bring in Snipe-IT hardware assets.
FAQ
Native integrations will automatically re-sync (update) every 3 hours. You can also use either the global or the card-specific re-sync features to refresh native integration syncs at any point.
API tokens are generated from within your Snipe-IT instance by a user with API access. Refer to Snipe-IT's own documentation for the exact steps in your version.
No. The Snipe-IT integration currently syncs hardware assets only.
Verify your Snipe-IT instance URL and API token are correct and that the token belongs to a user with API access, then try testing the connection again.
It should appear on subsequent re-syncs. If it is still not appearing, ensure that it has not been archived and still exists in your sort rules.
