Slide (Beta Access Required)

Slide is an MSP-focused, block-level backup and disaster recovery platform. Connecting Slide to Hudu lets you pull your Slide backup environment into Hudu automatically, so your Slide Box appliances, protected systems, and their backup details live alongside the rest of your documentation. This article walks through generating a Slide API key, connecting Slide to Hudu, matching your Slide clients to Hudu companies, and choosing where synced data lands.

Visit Understanding Integrations for additional information on how integrations work in Hudu.

Guides

Before you begin

You will need a Slide account and a Slide API token. In Slide, API tokens are tied to your user and share that user's permissions, so generate the token from an account that can see the clients you want to sync into Hudu. The integration connects with a single token, so there is no per-client setup on the Slide side.

Generate your Slide API token

  • Sign in to the Slide console.
  • Select My Settings in the left sidebar.
  • Scroll to the API section and select + Create API Token.
  • Copy the token when it is shown and store it somewhere safe.

The Slide API token is what Hudu uses to read your backup data. Treat it like a password and store it securely in Hudu.

Add the Slide integration in Hudu

  • In Hudu, go to Admin > Integrations and add the Slide integration.
  • Paste the Slide API token you generated into the API key field.
  • Select Save Credentials. Hudu tests the connection and confirms when the key is valid. If the key is rejected, double-check that you copied the full key and that the Slide user still has API access.

Match Slide clients to Hudu companies

After the connection succeeds, run a sync. Hudu pulls in your Slide clients so you can match each one to the matching Hudu company. Data only flows into companies you have matched, so nothing is created until you tell Hudu where each client belongs.

  1. Run the initial sync from the Slide integration page.
  2. For each Slide client, choose the Hudu company it maps to. You can match individually or use the bulk matching options.
  3. Re-sync. Backup data now populates only for the clients you matched.

Matching is the step that controls what syncs. If a client's data is not showing up, confirm that client is matched to a company.

Choose asset layouts

The Slide integration syncs three types of data, and you choose which asset layout each one is created on. This lets you point Slide data at the layouts that already fit your documentation structure.

Select a layout for each type before syncing. Synced items are created as assets on the layouts you choose, each with an integration card and populated connected fields.

Skip what you don't need

Each of the three data types has a skip toggle, so you can sync only what you want to document in Hudu. Turn on the skip toggle for devices or agents, and Hudu will leave that type out of the sync.

What gets synced

Devices (Slide Box appliances)

Each Slide Box appliance syncs as an asset on your chosen devices layout, with an integration card and connected fields populated from Slide.

Agents (protected systems)

Each protected system being backed up syncs as an asset on your chosen agents layout, with an integration card and connected fields.

FAQ

Do I need a separate API token for each client?

No. The integration connects with one Slide API token and pulls in all of your Slide clients, which you then match to Hudu companies.

Why isn't my Slide data showing up in a company?

Data only syncs for Slide clients that are matched to a Hudu company. Open the Slide integration, confirm the client is matched, then re-sync.

Will a second sync create duplicate assets?

No. Re-syncing updates the existing assets and fields rather than creating duplicates.

Troubleshooting

The connection test fails when I save credentials

Confirm you pasted the complete Slide API token with no extra spaces, and that the Slide user the token belongs to still has access. If it continues to fail, create a new token in the Slide console (My Settings > API) and try again.

A data type isn't syncing at all

Check the skip toggles on the Slide integration settings. If the skip toggle is on for devices, or agents, that type is left out of the sync.

Assets landed on the wrong layout

Each data type is created on the layout you selected in the integration settings. Update the layout selection, then re-sync.
