Slide

Slide is an MSP-focused, block-level backup and disaster recovery platform. Connecting Slide to Hudu lets you pull your Slide backup environment into Hudu automatically, so your Slide Box appliances and protected systems live alongside the rest of your documentation. This article walks through generating a Slide API token, connecting Slide to Hudu, matching your Slide clients to Hudu companies, and choosing where synced data lands.

Visit Understanding Integrations for additional information on how integrations work in Hudu.

What you'll need

  • Access to a Slide account to create an API token.
    • API tokens are tied to your user and share that user's permissions, so generate the token from an account that can see the clients you want to sync into Hudu. The integration connects with a single token, so there is no per-client setup on the Slide side.
  • Admin or super admin role within Hudu

Integration features

The Slide integration syncs the following into Hudu:

  • Clients — Slide clients are matched to Hudu companies. Only matched clients are imported.
  • Devices — Slide Box appliances, created as assets on the layout you choose.
  • Agents — protected systems being backed up, created as assets on the layout you choose.

Each synced device and agent gets a Slide integration card and populates connected fields on its asset. Re-syncing updates existing assets rather than creating duplicates, and you can skip devices or agents entirely in the integration options.

Obtaining the Slide information

To generate your Slide API token:

  • Sign in to the Slide console.
  • Select My Settings in the left sidebar.
  • Scroll to the API section and select + Create API Token.
  • Copy the token when it is shown and store it somewhere safe.

The Slide API token is what Hudu uses to read your backup data. Treat it like a password and store it securely.

Enabling the integration

Integrations can be enabled at any point during your Hudu environment testing and/or during production. Integrations can be merged into your existing documentation based on set rules, so you can start with integration setup or easily connect them at a later date. To enable the Slide integration:

  • Navigate to the Hudu admin area → Integrations.
  • Select Slide from the list.

Setting up the integration in Hudu

Step 1. Connect to Slide

  • Paste the Slide API token you generated into the API key field.
  • Select Save Credentials.

Step 2. Test the connection

  • Test the connection. If the token is rejected, double-check that you copied the full token and that the Slide user still has API access.
  • If the test is successful, continue to the next step.

Step 3. Activate and sync

  • Select Activate and Sync. Sync time varies depending on data size.
    • You can navigate away while the sync runs.
  • Check the logs during sync for status updates.

Step 4. Configure options

Customize what to sync, what Hudu updates, and how assets are matched.

  • Optional settings:
    • Auto-update names of Assets — keeps names in sync.
    • Match assets on primary serial — improves matching accuracy.
  • Optional exclusions: skip the following:
    • Devices (Slide Box appliances)
    • Agents (protected systems)
  • Select Save Options to move to the next step.

Step 5. Match companies

Match at least one company before syncing.

  • Companies must be matched to:
    • Existing companies in Hudu, or
    • New companies you create
  • Recommended: match one client first for testing.
  • Use bulk actions to accept or delete matches.
  • Use the menu to:
    • Accept Match
    • Change Match
    • Match New Company
    • Delete Match
  • Unmatched companies will not be imported.
  • Select Sync Now after matching.

Step 6. Choose where data will fill

Default asset layouts

  • Select default layouts for:
    • Slide devices (Slide Boxes)
    • Agents (protected systems)
  • Synced devices and agents are created as assets on these layouts.
  • Select Save Asset Layouts, then select Sync Now to run the initial sync.

If you don't have asset layouts yet, you'll need to create them first. Visit Asset Layouts for additional information on creating layouts.

FAQ

Do I need a separate API token for each client?

No. The integration connects with one Slide API token and pulls in all of your Slide clients, which you then match to Hudu companies.

Why isn't my Slide data showing up in a company?

Data only syncs for Slide clients that are matched to a Hudu company. Open the Slide integration, confirm the client is matched, then re-sync.

Will a second sync create duplicate assets?

No. Re-syncing updates the existing assets and fields rather than creating duplicates.

Troubleshooting

The connection test fails when I save credentials

Confirm you pasted the complete Slide API token with no extra spaces, and that the Slide user the token belongs to still has access. If it continues to fail, create a new token in the Slide console (My Settings → API) and try again.

A data type isn't syncing at all

Check the skip toggles in the Slide integration settings. If the skip toggle is on for devices or agents, that type is left out of the sync.

Assets landed on the wrong layout

Each data type is created on the layout you selected in the integration settings. Update the layout selection, then re-sync.
