Integrating Thread with Hudu brings your documentation and support workflows into a single, intelligent experience. This connection allows Thread’s AI assistant, Ask Magic, to tap directly into your Hudu knowledge base—making it easier for technicians to find accurate information without interrupting their workflow.

Before setting up your Thread integration, please read over our Understanding Integrations article to learn basic concepts and useful tips.

Integration Features

 

The integration enables Thread to search your Hudu instance globally and retrieve relevant documentation in real time. When a technician asks a question using Ask Magic, the system doesn’t just rely on Thread’s internal knowledge—it also pulls from your Hudu articles to deliver more complete answers.

  • Unified Knowledge Access: Technicians can query Ask Magic and receive answers sourced from both Thread and Hudu. There’s no need to manually search through separate systems—everything is accessible in one place.
  • Streamlined Support Workflow: By eliminating the need to switch between platforms, your team saves time and stays focused. This reduces friction and improves response efficiency.
  • Dual-Search Intelligence: Thread automatically searches across both its internal knowledge base and your Hudu documentation at the same time, ensuring the most relevant and helpful response is returned.

 

Enabling the Integration

 

The integration can be enabled at any point, either during Hudu environment testing or in production. The Thread–Hudu integration is built and maintained by Thread using the Hudu API.

 

Step 1. Creating a Hudu API Key

  • Navigate to the Hudu Admin Area

  • Select Account Administration → API

  • Click + New API Key in the top-right corner

  • Choose Full Access

  • Name the API key as desired

  • Click Create.
  • Copy the generated key.
    • Be sure to copy the key and keep this in a secure location; this will be the last time that you can see this key.

 

Step 2. Setting up the Integration in Thread

  • Log in to the Thread Admin dashboard
  • Navigate to Inegrations
  • Find and click the Hudu integration
  • Enter your Hudu Base URL
  • Enter your Hudu API Key
  • Click Save 

 

Step 3. Verify the Integration

 

Once saved, the integration becomes active immediately.

To test it:

  • Open a thread in Slack or Teams
  • Use Ask Magic to ask a question related to a Hudu article

If everything is set up correctly, the AI will return an answer and include a link to the relevant Hudu article.

 

Important Considerations

 

Global Search Scope:

Currently, the integration searches your entire Hudu instance globally. It does not yet map specific Hudu companies to corresponding Thread companies.

Source Visibility:

Ask Magic may not clearly label whether an answer comes from Thread or Hudu within the interface. However, users can identify the source by clicking the provided link.

Future Improvements:

Dynamic company mapping between Thread and Hudu is being explored for future updates.
