Connect Hudu to Unified DNS to sync DNS zones and domain registration information directly into Hudu as assets, keeping your documentation accurate and centralized. Magic Dash status indicators ensure everything stays automatically updated and easy to monitor.
Before setting up the Unified DNS integration, please read over our Understanding Integrations article to learn basic concepts and useful tips.
What You'll Need
- A Hudu account with admin access
- An API key from Hudu with appropriate permissions

What Unified DNS Needs from Hudu
Create an API key in Hudu:
- Navigate to Admin > Account Administration > API Keys
- Click + New API Key in the top right corner
- Configure the API Key:
- Name: Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "UDNS")
- Limit Scope to: Select Full access
- Company: Leave blank to access all companies
- Click Create
- Copy the API key and store it securely
Be sure to copy the key to a secure location, as it will obfuscate after 5 minutes and is only shown once.
To finish with setup, we'd recommend referring to the Hudu Integration Unified DNS documentation.
FAQ
Answer: If the connection test fails, verify that the Hudu Instance URL is correct and includes https://, confirm the API key is valid and has not been revoked, check that the API key has the required permissions, and ensure your Hudu instance is accessible from Unified DNS.
Answer: If assets are not syncing, verify that the integration is enabled, check that Asset Sync is enabled in Feature Settings, confirm the client is mapped to a Hudu company, and wait for the next scheduled sync or review the sync schedule.
Answer: If companies are not appearing in the dropdown, click Refresh on the Company Mapping tab, verify that your API key has access to the companies, and confirm that companies exist in Hudu.
Answer: If Magic Dash is not showing, ensure Magic Dash is enabled in Feature Settings, verify the API key has Magic Dash permissions or Full access, and confirm that at least one mapped client has synced.
