File Management

The "Files" and "Photos" abilities are togglable modules that allow users to add relevant files and photos to an entity. The sections can be found on the right-hand side menu when viewing an individual entity. Any user that has access to the entry can view the files/photos attached. If a user is at least an "Author" role, they are able to upload their own files/photos.

Adding Files

Files can be added to various information types within Hudu; this includes to KB articles, assets, or websites. To upload a file, click in the "Drop Files Here to Upload" field in the right-hand sidebar and select the desired file to upload. Files can also be drag-and-dropped in the same section. 

All file types are supported, including but not limited to:

  • Documents: .pdf, .docx, .txt, .odt, .rtf

  • Spreadsheets: .xlsx, .csv, .ods

  • Presentations: .pptx, .odp

  • Images: .jpg, .png, .gif, .svg

  • Audio/Video: .mp3, .wav, .mp4, .mov

  • Archives: .zip, .rar, .7z, .tar.gz

  • Code & Data files: .py, .js, .json, .xml, .html

    There are no file type restrictions for general file uploads; any file type can be uploaded but must be no more than 100 MB in size per individual file.

Adding Photos

Photos can be added to assets within Hudu. To upload a photo, click in the "Drop Photos Here to Upload" field on the right-hand sidebar and select the desired file to upload. Photos can also be drag-and-dropped in the same section and/or pasted from your clipboard by clicking Paste in the top right of the section.

    Picture format can be jpg, jpeg, png, gif, and webp and must be no more than 100 MB in size per individual upload.

FAQ

What file upload limitations exist?

Answer:

  • There is no limit to the number of files you can upload, but each individual file cannot exceed 100 MB.
  • For general file uploads, all file types are supported.
  • For photo uploads, the following file types are supported:
    • jpg, jpeg, png, gif, and webp
Seeing “Content is Blocked” when trying to open an uploaded file?

Answer:

This can often be resolved by altering a setting in Chrome:

  • Go to chrome://settings/content/pdfDocuments
  • Enable the Open PDFs in Chrome setting
